Link in Bio Tool for Instagram: Which Ones Let You Sell, and What They Take

Linktree takes 12% per sale on Free, Beacons 9%, Lnk.Bio 5%. Compare what six link in bio tools for Instagram cost when you sell, with the fee math.

Link in Bio Tool for Instagram: Which Ones Let You Sell, and What They Take

Of the big link in bio tools for Instagram, four let you sell from the link itself: Linktree (12% per sale on Free, 9% on Starter and Pro, 0% on the $35 Premium plan), Beacons (9% on Free and Creator, 0% from $30 a month), Lnk.Bio (5% on every sale), and Stan Store ($29 a month, 0%). Bio.link does not sell at all. shopspace is $19 a month billed yearly or $29 monthly with 0% per sale.

Most "best link in bio" lists rank tools on themes, analytics and how many links you get. That misses the question that actually costs you money: when someone taps your bio link and buys, who takes a cut? This page compares only that. Every price and fee below was pulled from each tool's own pricing or help page this week. Payment processing (Stripe or PayPal) applies on every tool and is excluded so the platforms compare fairly.

What each tool takes at $500 and $2,000 a month

Assumptions: platform fee only, processing excluded, monthly billing where a subscription applies, and the whole month's sales going through the bio link.

Tool and plan Monthly price Per-sale fee Cost at $500 in sales Cost at $2,000 in sales
Linktree Free $0 12% $60 $240
Linktree Starter $8 9% $53 $188
Linktree Pro $15 9% $60 $195
Linktree Premium $35 0% $35 $35
Beacons Free $0 9% $45 $180
Beacons Creator Plus $30 0% $30 $30
Stan Store Creator $29 0% $29 $29
Lnk.Bio (any plan) $0 5% $25 $100
Bio.link Pro $7.49 cannot sell n/a n/a
shopspace $29 ($19 billed yearly) 0% $29 $29

Two things jump out. The "free" tiers are the most expensive ones once you sell anything past a few hundred dollars. And past roughly $300 a month in sales, every 0% tool costs the same flat amount whether you sell $500 or $20,000.

Can you sell from Linktree?

Yes. Linktree's selling feature is a product link on your page: you add a "digital product" link, upload a file or paste a course link, set a price, and the buyer pays in a Linktree-hosted checkout without leaving the page. Payouts go through Linktree, which also charges $0.25 per payout.

The catch is the fee ladder. Linktree's pricing page lists "Sell products (9% seller fees)" on Starter and "Sell digital products (0% seller fees)" only on Premium at $35 a month ($30 billed yearly). The Free tier takes 12%. So a creator on the Free plan selling a $20 preset pack hands Linktree $2.40 per sale before Stripe is paid. To get to 0% you pay more than Stan or shopspace charge, for a tool whose core job is still a list of links.

Who it fits: creators who mostly need links, sell the odd item, and already have a Linktree they do not want to move. Not a fit if selling is the point. See our Linktree comparison for the full feature gap.

Can you sell from Beacons?

Yes, and Beacons goes further than Linktree: it has a proper store block with digital products, services, bookings, and a tip jar, each with its own checkout. Buyers stay on your Beacons page, pay via Stripe or PayPal, and get the file by email.

Beacons' help centre states the fees plainly: "9% transaction fee on sales" on Free, 9% on the $10 Creator plan, and 0% from Creator Plus at $30 a month ($300 a year). Creator Max sits above that at 0% too. So the break-even between staying free and paying $30 is about $333 in monthly sales. Under that, the 9% is cheaper. Over it, you are paying Beacons more than a Stan subscription for the privilege of being "free."

Who it fits: creators with a mixed income (tips, a couple of products, brand deals) who like having a media kit and an email list in the same place, and who either sell little or are happy to pay $30 to zero out the fee. Our Beacons comparison covers what you give up.

Can you sell from Stan Store?

Yes, and selling is the whole product. Stan is a storefront that happens to look like a link in bio page: every tile is a product, course, booking or lead magnet with a checkout built in. There is no plain "list of links" mode.

Stan's own pricing article confirms: Creator at $29 a month ($300 a year, so $25 a month billed yearly), Creator Pro at $99 a month, 0% transaction fees on both, and a 14-day free trial. There is no free plan. Stan's blog puts it directly: it offers "a 14-day free trial to explore the platform before committing, not a free plan."

Who it fits: coaches and course sellers who want one clean funnel and are already making enough that $29 is trivial. Less good if you also want automation on Instagram itself, since Stan's storefront does not reply to comments or DMs for you.

Can you sell from Lnk.Bio?

Yes, and this is the one most listicles skip. Lnk.Bio has a Shop that sells digital downloads, services and physical products with variants, coupons and stock tracking, paid through your own Stripe or PayPal account with immediate payouts. Lnk.Bio does not hold your money.

Plans are unusual: Free, Mini at $0.99 a month or $9.99 one time, and Unique at $24.99 one time, lifetime. The Shop fee is the same on all of them. Lnk.Bio's shop page states a "fixed percentage fee per sale" of 5%, which "excludes Stripe/PayPal fees," and its help article repeats it: "Lnk.Bio retains 5% of the sale as a fee."

Five percent with no subscription is the cheapest option in this comparison below about $580 a month in sales. Above that, the flat-fee tools win.

Who it fits: creators who sell a little, hate subscriptions, and want to pay once. The trade is a plainer page and no Instagram automation.

Can you sell from Bio.link?

No. Bio.link is a clean, fast link page with a Pro plan at $7.49 a month that adds unlimited sites, a custom domain, white-label branding, an email list and an AI chat widget. Its homepage lists no store, no product block, no checkout and no tip jar. To sell, you link out to Gumroad, Payhip or a storefront, and pay whatever that tool takes.

Later's Link in Bio, the other tool people ask about here, is the same story: it displays shoppable posts and affiliate links but has no native checkout.

Who it fits: creators who never plan to sell from the link and just want the cheapest tidy page. If that is you, Bio.link is fine and this comparison is not for you.

Where shopspace fits

shopspace is a storefront and a link page in one, like Stan, with one difference that matters for Instagram specifically: comment-to-DM automation is built in. Someone comments "link" on your Reel, shopspace DMs them the product, and the checkout is yours, with 0% taken on every plan. If you have been paying ManyChat for the automation and Stan for the store, this collapses two bills into one.

Pricing is $19 a month billed yearly or $29 monthly. There is a 7-day free trial, a card is required to start it, and nothing is charged for 7 days. shopspace is not free and we will not pretend otherwise; at $500 a month in sales it costs about the same as Beacons Free, and above that it is cheaper than every percentage plan on this page.

If your bio link is where people buy, try shopspace. 7-day free trial, card required, nothing charged for 7 days.

The verdict
