What you keep at $500 and $2,000 a month
Here is the platform cost on real revenue, using yearly billing. Card processing (Stripe or PayPal) applies on every platform, so it is left out to keep the comparison fair. On Linktree, Stripe processing is charged per purchase on top of the seller fee on every plan.
| Plan | Platform cost at $500 | You keep | Platform cost at $2,000 | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linktree Free (12%) | $60 | $440 | $240 | $1,760 |
| Linktree Starter ($6 + 9%) | $51 | $449 | $186 | $1,814 |
| Linktree Pro ($12 + 9%) | $57 | $443 | $192 | $1,808 |
| Linktree Premium ($30, 0%) | $30 | $470 | $30 | $1,970 |
| Sellfy (Starter $22 at $500, Business $59 at $2,000) | $22 | $478 | $59 | $1,941 |
| shopspace Creator ($19, 0%) | $19 | $481 | $19 | $1,981 |
The pattern is clear. On Linktree, paying for Starter or Pro barely changes your selling costs, because the seller fee only drops from 12% to 9%. The real saving starts at Premium, $30 a month billed yearly. Sellfy switches plans at $2,000 because $2,000 a month is $24,000 a year, past the Starter plan's $10k yearly cap.
At $2,000 a month in sales, Linktree's free plan takes $240 and Starter still takes $186. Start a 7-day free trial of shopspace and keep it: 0% per sale, flat $19 a month billed yearly.
Linktree: great for links, costly for selling
Linktree is built for putting many links behind one URL, and for that job the free plan does everything you need. If you are not selling through it, it costs nothing.
Selling is where it gets expensive. At 12% on Free and 9% on the next two plans, Linktree takes more per sale than any other option in this comparison until you reach Premium. For email, Linktree lists email collection on every plan and integrations with Mailchimp, Klaviyo and Kit on Pro and Premium, so plan on a separate tool to actually send.
One option is to keep Linktree Free for your links and point one of them at a proper store. The guide to a Linktree alternative for selling products walks through that choice.
Sellfy: a real store, with a sales cap
Sellfy is a storefront first. It sells digital products, physical products, subscriptions and print-on-demand merch, connects your own domain on every plan, and pays out instantly to your PayPal or Stripe account. It offers a 14-day free trial.
It takes 0% per sale on every plan, but each plan has a yearly sales cap: $10k on Starter (about $833 a month), $50k on Business and $200k on Premium. Past the cap, Sellfy "may start to charge a 2% overage fee" on the excess if you do not upgrade.
On email, Sellfy's pricing table lists email credits on every plan, but its FAQ says monthly credits come with the Business or Premium plan. If email matters to you, confirm what Starter includes. The Sellfy pricing breakdown has the details.
If you'd rather not pay either one's fees
Linktree takes a cut of each sale until you pay $30 a month. Sellfy's price rises with your revenue. shopspace charges one flat price and 0% per sale on every plan.
Creator is $19 a month billed yearly ($228 a year) or $29 month to month. Payments go straight to your own Stripe account, shopspace never holds your money, and the only per-sale cost is standard Stripe processing.
On Creator you get:
- A storefront with checkout for digital downloads, physical products, courses with progress tracking, bookings for calls and coaching, memberships, webinars, bundles, lead magnets, a tip jar and external links.
- Community, with unlimited products and members.
- Email campaigns and sequences, and automations that run on store events.
- Instagram automations: an automatic DM when someone comments, keyword triggers and DM replies. If Instagram is where your buyers come from, Instagram comment-to-DM automation explains how that flow works.
Pro, at $39 a month billed yearly or $49 month to month, adds a custom domain, a custom email sending domain, AI automation steps with 10,000 AI actions a month, Meta pixel and Conversions API for retargeting, and API access.
The limits: shopspace has no marketplace, so you bring your own traffic, it does not handle EU VAT, and a custom domain requires Pro.
Which platform should you choose?
Choose Linktree if you only need a link page, or if you sell less than about $160 a month, where its 12% costs less than a $19 flat plan. Choose Sellfy if print-on-demand merch is a big part of what you sell.
If you sell to your own audience and your sales are growing, shopspace is the cheapest way in this comparison to stop paying per sale: at $2,000 a month you keep $1,981, against $1,760 on Linktree Free and $1,941 on Sellfy.
A card is required at signup, but nothing is charged during the first 7 days, and if you cancel inside the trial you pay nothing. Try shopspace free for 7 days and put a store that keeps every sale in your bio.
